DEVELOPMENT
The development of this project in Vila Nova de Famalicão presented a particularly stimulating challenge for our studio, requiring the creation of a building with a distinctive identity that could establish a strong presence within the city while maintaining harmony with its surrounding context.
The site is located in a transitional area between a well-established multifamily residential neighbourhood and a district of more traditional single-family houses, characterised by the presence of green spaces. Its proximity to the city centre further reinforced the importance of developing an architectural solution that was both balanced and well integrated into the urban fabric.
From the outset, the primary objective was to fully occupy the permitted building footprint, creating a multifamily residential building that fulfilled the programme requirements while avoiding the appearance of a compact, heavy, and monolithic volume.
To achieve this, the façades were designed with integrated planters that introduce vegetation as a defining architectural element, establishing a closer relationship between the building and nature and giving rise to the concept of "GREEN PLAZA." The choice of materials further reinforces this vision: champagne-toned finishes combined with profiled metal cladding create rhythm and emphasise the horizontal composition of the façades, reducing the perceived scale of the building and lending a greater sense of lightness to the overall composition.
The result is a contemporary multifamily residential building with a strong architectural identity and a distinctive presence, successfully balancing scale and elegance in a refined and harmonious way.
